Jeera Rice

Jeera Rice is really easy and quick to make. You do not have to make elaborate preparations nor does it require any fancy ingredients. Its a simple, earthy dish that can be made for a small group or large parties in a jiffy!
Ingredients: Basmati Rice - 1 cup, Cumin seeds /Jeera - 2 tsp, Cinnamon stick/Dalchini -1 stick, Bay leaf- 1, Salt - as per taste, Butter/Ghee - 1 tbsp, Lemon juice - 2 tsp, Water - 2 cups, Optional Garnish: Fried Onions/Cashews.
Method: Soak the rice for 30 mins. In a pan/cooker heat butter/ghee, put the cumin seeds/jeera, bayleaf, cinnamon stick and  and fry for 2-3 mins. Then and add rice and saute for 2-3 mins. After that add salt, water and lemon juice. Cook for 18-20 mins if in a pan. If in a cooker, cook for 1 whistle. Take care the grains do not break. Garnish the rice with cashews or fried onions. Enjoy it with any Dal fry/Palak paneer/Rajma (I will post the recipe for rajma and dal fry soon).
